What is VMware certification and what does it give ?
The VMware certificate is certainly a confirmation that we have specific skills from VMware technology. The VMware certificate is obtained at the time of taking exams.
Is it worth doing VMware certification ?
Having a VMware certificate is helpful in looking for work related to VMware. Confirms that we have specific skills from VMware technology.
There are four levels of certification:
- VCA (VMware Certified Associate)
For Administrators, Architects & Executives. This level certification is for new IT professionals as well as executives making decisions about VMware solutions.
- VCP (VMware Certified Professional)
For Administrators & Engineers. This level is for IT professionals who install, configure, manage, and optimize VMware solutions.
- VCAP (VMware Certified Advanced Proffesional)
For Administrators, Architects & Engineers. The advanced levels are for those who design and build VMware Solutions (VCAP Design) and manage and optimize VMware solutions (VCAP Deployment).
- VCDX (VMware Certified Designed Expert)
For Architects. The highest level of VCDX certification recognizes IT specialists who design, build and manage VMware solutions and systems.

We distinguish the following certificates in the Data Center Virtualization path:
- VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP6-DCV)
This certificate confirms the ability to administer and solve problems in the vSphere 6.0
infrastructure.
- VMware Certified Professional 6.5 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP6.5-DCV)
This certificate confirms the ability to implement, manage, and troubleshoot vSphere 6.5 infrastructure.
- VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization 2019 (VCP-DCV 2019)
The certification confirms the skills in implementing, managing and solving problems in the vSphere 7.6 infrastructure.
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional 6 — Data Center Virtualization Deployment
The certificate confirms the skills of implementing and optimizing the vSphere 6.0 infrastructure.
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional 6.5 — Data Center Virtualization Design
The certificate confirms the knowledge about end-user environments and computer components, and we can design VMware solutions to meet specific goals and requirements.
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional — Data Center Virtualization Deploy 2018
This certificate confirms our ability to implement and optimize vSphere 6.5 infrastructure.
- VMware Certified Design Expert 6 – Data Center Virtualization (VCDX6-DCV)
This is the highest level of VMware certification designed for design architects with high skills in the field of VMware corporate deployments.
Network Virtualization
VMware Network Virtualization certifications determine the level of VMware NSX design, implementation and management skills.
We distinguish the following certificates in the Network Virtualization path:
- VMware Certified Professional 6 – Network Virtualization (VCP6-NV)
The VCP6-NV certificate confirms the ability to install, configure and administer implementations of virtual NSX networks, regardless of the basic physical architecture.
- VMware Certified Professional – Network Virtualization 2019 (VCP-NV 2019)

VCP6-CMA certification confirms the ability to automate key processes in the data center, using vRealize automation.

Certification confirms the ability to implement and optimize the data center environment using the tools provided by vRealize Automation.
- VMware Certified Design Expert 7 — Cloud Management and Automation (VCDX7-CMA)
VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) is the highest level of VMware certification. The VCDX7-CMA certificate confirms skills in the design, planning and integration of VMware vSphere solutions and vCloud management and automation.
Desktop and Mobility
Desktop and Mobility Certificates determine the level of ability to design, install, and manage VMware Horizon software with the View environment deployed in the VMware vSphere implementation.
We distinguish the following certificates in the Desktop and Mobility path:
- VMware Certified Professional 6 – Desktop and Mobility (VCP6-DTM)
The VCP6-DTM certificate is a confirmation of skills in the in-depth configuration and management of VMware Horizon 6 environments (from View).
- VMware Certified Professional 7 – Desktop and Mobility (VCP7-DTM)

Acquiring this certificate confirms knowledge about virtualization in the enterprise. The certificate confirms that we have knowledge of VMware products and technologies that support VMware Cloud Foundation and Cross-Cloud Architecture solutions, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX and vRealize Suite.
We distinguish the following certificates in the Digital Busines Transformation path:
- VMware Certified Associate – Digital Business Transformation (VCA-DBT)
Acquiring this certificate confirms knowledge about virtualization in the enterprise. The certificate confirms that we have knowledge of VMware products and technologies that support VMware Cloud Foundation and Cross-Cloud Architecture solutions, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX and vRealize Suite.
Digital Workspace
Certification confirms the ability to configure, implement, manage, maintain, optimize and troubleshoot VMware Workspace ONE and related solutions.
We distinguish the following certificates in the Digital Workspace path:
- VMware Certified Professional – Digital Workspace 2018 (VCP-DW 2018)
The VCP-DW 2018 certification confirms knowledge about configuring, implementing, managing, maintaining, optimizing and performing basic tasks related to troubleshooting VMware Workspace ONE and related solutions, as well as correctly identifying and diversifying all necessary products and support components.
- VMware Certified Professional – Digital Workspace 2019 (VCP-DW 2018)
The VCP-DW 2018 certification confirms knowledge about configuring, implementing, managing, maintaining, optimizing and performing basic tasks related to troubleshooting VMware Workspace ONE and related solutions, as well as correctly identifying and diversifying all necessary products and support components.
